Sweetwater One Adaptive Learning Plan - Parent Letter

Sweetwater One Adaptive Learning Plan

Dear Westridge Lions,

I hope this letter finds all of you healthy, safe, and at-home learning, while enjoying the extra time with your family.  As students continue to learn online with teachers, we want you to know how important it is that you are safe and not overwhelmed. Secondly, we want students to continue to learn essential grade-level standards in various ways, such as attending Google Meets, working in Google Classroom (if your teacher is using it), having conversations with your teachers, and completing work assigned to you.

Students and Families, it is very important that students do more than attend a Google Meet. The way we are tracking attendance during this time is by monitoring participation and completion of work. Participation can mean the following: actively participating in classroom discussions, completing assignments and assessments, conversations with teachers, perhaps uploading a video to show learning, hands-on activities, and there could be more ideas/ways teachers may share with you.

Our Adaptive Learning Plan is posted on the school district website. This plan was required by the state of Wyoming to demonstrate that we are doing what is best for students in order to ensure we do not have to make up the school days we are missing due to COVID-19. Please note, students should be engaged in meaningful activities for 1 to 2 hours a day, after instruction. This eLearning adventure should not be scary or overwhelming. At our age-group, if you feel like your student is spending more than 1 to 2 hours a day on course work, I encourage you to reach out to your student’s teacher through ParentSquare or email. By communicating, you can avoid any confusion and brainstorm about why your student appears to be working more than the recommended time.

Again, we truly want what is best for all students. During this uncertain time, where health and safety are very important, we ask that students do their best to help family and continue to learn as best they can.  Please reach out to us if you have any questions.

Respectfully,

Dr. Wells
